David J. Williams, Ph.D., M.P., A.B.M.P. (LA License # 953MP)
Dr. Williams graduated Magna Cum Laude with his Bachelor of Science Degree from Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia. He completed his Masters of Arts Degree in General/Experimental Psychology at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and his thesis was entitled "Counterfactual Thinking and Attributional Style." After working as an alcohol and drug probation officer with the Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program, Dr. Williams decided to pursue his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at Louisiana Tech University. During his academic program, he was trained in program evaluation, outpatient sex offender treatment, health psychology and pain management, inpatient and outpatient alcohol and drug treatment, and forensic assessment. He initiated the creation of Louisiana Tech University’s psychology clinic and grew the program from a single corner office to a fully functioning psychology clinic that serves as the initial training site for all current counseling psychology doctoral students at the university. Dr. Williams completed his doctoral internship at the Ulster County Mental Health Department in Kingston, NY, and his rotations included adult mental health treatment, sex offender treatment, family court assessment, and other forensic assessment. He completed his dissertation entitled "Preventing Driving under the Influence Through Informal Interventions: an Examination of the Decision Making Processes Common to Potential DUI Offenders" and graduated in November, 2002 with full APA accreditation. He has presented his research at regional, national, and international conferences, and he has garnered publications in a variety of journals such as the Journal of Counseling Psychology, the Journal of Offender Rehabilitation, Personality and Individual Differences, Educational and Psychological Measurement, and the Journal of College Counseling. He has performed program evaluation and development services for the Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program, Louisiana Tech University, the Third Judicial District Attorney’s Office, and the Rockingham/Harrisonburg Domestic Violence Task Force. Other accomplishments include holding either adjunct faculty or faculty positions at James Madison University, Marist College, and the Louisiana State University in Shreveport. Recently, he completed a post doctoral masters degree in psychopharmacology. Dr. Williams has Dipomate status with the American Board of Medical Psychology, and he is one of the few medical psychologists in the nation who are actually prescribing medications. Dr. Williams is an active member of Family Church, and he happily "married up" to his wife Tammy in July, 1999. Today, his pride and joy rest comfortably on the shoulders of his children Joshua, Carrie, and Mallory.
John D. "Jodey" Edwards, MA, MS, NCC, LPC
Mr. Edwards is from West Monroe, Louisiana and he attended West Monroe High School. In his senior year, he enlisted in the Louisiana Army National Guard where he served for seven years. He earned two certificates of accommodation and the Army Achievement Medal during his military service. After his honorable discharge, Mr. Edwards returned to academia to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology at Northeast Louisiana University. He later completed a Master of Arts degree in General Counseling and Guidance as well as a Master of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from Louisiana Tech University. He has completed internships in school and group home settings where he performed individual and group therapy with adolescents. Mr. Edwards was also a Certified Fitness Trainer for three years through the International Sports Science Association. He is currently enrolled in the Louisiana Educational Consortium Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership with a cognate in Counseling at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Mr. Edwards has worked with people struggling with depression, anxiety, anger, substance abuse, conduct problems, impulse control problems, defiance, and personality disorders. He also provides sexual abuser, pain management, and anger management treatment in group settings. Mr. Edwards has a special interest and experience in working with adolescents.
Jeannie Sherr, MA, LPC, LRC
Ms. Sherr is an avid cat lover and greedy with her cookies. Clinically, she works with individuals struggling with chronic pain and personality disorders. She has also had great success with helping anxious children. Other clinical interests include dialectic behavior therapy and working with the geriatric depression.
Jimmy Snow, MA, LPC-I
Mr. Snow is our resident marriage and family counselor. He is interested in systems theories, and he enjoys working with family dynamics. He has specialized training in Multisystemic Therapy, which is an empirically validated treatment that has been shown to be very effective in treating oppositional behaviors in children and adolescents.
Tracy Harper, J.D., Ph.D. (Candidate).
After completing her law degree and working some as an attorney, Ms. Harper decided to return to school to become a counseling psychologist. She is currently working on an advanced field placement with us, and she will be looking to go on her internship next fall. She is heading up out free care program at the present time. She is interested in developing a practice in the area of forensic psychology and divorce mediation.
Kurt May, BA, Testing Technician
Mr. May works with us part time as a testing technician. He works full time as a firefighter, and he is also committed to raising his family, horses, a pony, and three dogs!
Rachel Warren, BA, Administrative Assistant
Mrs. Warren is in charge of scheduling among other duties at the clinic. She has a heart for ministry related activities, and she brings a great sense of humor to our team. At times, we have noticed that many of our clients prefer to talk to Mrs. Warren than Dr. Williams! She has a heart for people, and is committed to being a godly mother and wife.
